Cartoon by John Ryan ’92
JOHN RYAN ’92, THE MASTERMIND behind Angry Youth Comics, is a full-time cartoonist working out of his house in Los Angeles, California. Starting in 1994, he was self-published until 2000, when Angry Youth was picked up by Fantagraphics Books. Along with writing and illustrating his comic books, he has worked for major magazines including illustrations for Nickelodeon and National Geographic Kids.

Ryan never contributed comics to the Daily Collegian while on campus. “I didn’t really get serious about drawing comics until a year after I graduated,” he says. “I do remember the comics in the Collegian to be pretty terrible during that time. I should have done something…”
